Deep Dives

In order to go more in depth on particular topics, each unit contains a series of content deep dives that you will complete each week (usually as your asynchronous work). These deep dives are designed to be completed individually and have been thoughtfully put together to model UDL design, as well as to provide you with critical content and experience planning in a UDL framework.

02

Reading Challenges

For each of the assigned readings, you will submit a short Reading Response. This will serve as both an accountability measure for keeping up with the readings, and as a tool to assist with our in-class discussions.  Topics and guiding questions for each response will be posted in Reggie Net.  These responses must be submitted prior to the start of class time of the week for the assigned reading.

Book Club

Each week, you will be responsible for reading one chapter of the book and preparing for a book club discussion. As you read, take notes on key concepts and ideas that you encounter. Be sure to focus on how the principles of antiracism and universal design for learning can be applied in the classroom. You will meet with your club once a week, or every other week (dates will be posted in Reggie Net). After each book club discussion, you will write a reflection about your experience reading the chapter and participating in the discussion.  You should include a brief summary of what your group talked about and your thoughts–new, old, or changed–about the text. Feel free to quote or paraphrase your group mates.

Universal Design Lesson Plan

This is your Project description. Provide a brief summary to help visitors understand the context and background of your work. Click on "EditWe will work all semester to learn about ways to plan instruction that are inclusive and responsive to the needs of all the learners in a classroom. For this assignment, you will design a lesson centering on these principles. While you will not be asked in your regular lesson planning to design instruction with so much detail, the intent of this assignment is to show what you know about UDL and how you will apply it.  More details, and a template for your work, will be provided in Reggie Net.
