Hannah Stohry
In this chapter, we learned about Hannah and her identity. We first learn that Hannah has lived in a variety of places, so her geographical identity has been in a variety of places. We have also learned that Hannah is a military kid, so she constantly is having to adapt to a variety of living styles. Hannah explains that she lived in Korea for a long time. We then learn that Hannah explains that she is a biracial individuals. Hannah says that she is both Korean and White. However, instead of moving to the US and forgetting her Korean culture, she is working to become biracial and learn and grow in both cultures and languages. When reflecting on her childhood, Hannah explains that she wishes that she would have had bilingual teachers and teachers that tried to learn about her culture and her understanding. Hannah did have a sister and sadly her sister knows nothing about the Korean language. With this Hannah thinks about her deficit sense and understanding and wishes that she would have helped her sister learn more about the Korean language. She wishes that they would have spoke Korean more at home, so that her sister could still have her L1.

Hannah talked about a prievelage that she had was the accessibility to school and clubs, however, her pain was loosing the language and watching her sister loose some of her identity.

Lastly, something that was talked about in a lot of these readings is individuals descirbing that they have been asked "What are you?" In the past articles people responded by saying I identify as this or I am this. However, Hannah answered the conversation by proudly saying I am a person not a what. I thought this was extremely powerful because this is a topic that all of the individuals have discussed.

Lastly, Hannah brought up the idea of code switching and how cool she thought it was. She explained how skilled this made her feel. The fact that she is fluent enough that she can talk in two languages at once is an extreme talent.
