Classroom Expectations

Students should be on time to class. Being late to class impacts students learning as well as the learning process of their peers.
- If this become an issue, a conversation with higher administration will occur after chatting with Ms. Shanafelt.
Students will keep their hands to themselves!
- Do not touch or bother any things that don't belong to you.
Students will also be expected to have assignments ready and complete at the start of class.
- Exceptions will be made if you talk to Ms. Shanafelt.
I will respect your time outside of class. I understand that the evening time is busy, so I will take this into consideration when giving homework. I just ask that you are respectful of my time.

School Expectaitons

The school takes behavioral expectations very strongly. If there are any issues, the school has plans set in place to help students.
We have school psychologists and counselors in the building in order to help students.
We also have a school officer that will be stationed at school each day. This officer will continue to prompt safety and respect in our school.
If any major cases do arise, the school has protocols in place such as lunch detentions, after school detentions, suspensions, and explosions if this is needed.

Relationships and Lessons

One huge way that I will allow for student voice and response is in our lesson. I will work to create lessons that interest students and involve students. With this in mind, behavior is very important in my class. To be able to do interactive activities, we must be able to handle our behaviors and our reactions towards others.

Incentives

Students will be able to collect Bobcats Cash, which they can spend at the end of the week. The Bobcat cart will roll to each room and students will be able to purchase candy, snacks, and small items.
Students will receive Bobcat Cash from any of the staff. Students will receive cash for participating in class and being a respectful student.
Also, in Ms. Shanafelt's room, we will do a lot of fun activities. Throughout the year, we will continue to have these activities as long as students are being respectful towards Ms. Shanafelt and their other peers.

Rationale

I explained these behavioral techniques in this way because I wanted to address that a big structure of my classroom is student involvement and activities. With this in mind, it's important that students understand that they must behave in order to do these activities. It's also import that students recognize positive behavior isn't just required in the classroom, but it's also required in all areas of the school. I also wanted students to be aware that behavior and respect comes from both the students and the teachers.

I included the incentive program called Bobcat Cash. This is a school wide incentive program that allows for students to be able to collect rewards for their outstanding behavior. This will give students a motive to act respectable in the school. This also gives students a sense of freedom because they are not always punished for bad behavior, but instead they are rewarded for the good.
