Time, Space, and Material Management

This section covers how transitions will look in the classroom. Here we will also go over how the in-class time will be used and how everything will be organized. This section will also discuss materials and how they will be stored.

Transitions

Start

Once you enter the classroom, students will get organized at their desk.
Students should always notice if they have a Bellringer or starting task.
Computers should be closed and tucked away.
If there are resources on the resource board, the resource student from each pod should collect the requirements for todays activity. Students will also then return the items at the end of class.

End

Students shouldn't pack up their belongings until the teacher has stated that class was over and has began concluding for the day.
Once students pack up, they should stay in their seats. Do not gather at the door. Wait until the bell and then you can leave.

Time

Be respectful of your peers by actively listening while they share ideas
Face your peers while you are talking
Make sure any work that you are collaborating on is accessible to all students (if you don't know how to make something accessible then ask for help)
Take turns speaking
Ask clarifying questions to assist in your own personal learning and in others learning
Ask furthering/guiding questions to keep the conversation

Organizations

Classroom jobs are assigned and any student who has a job that needs to be done in the morning will do that. This includes our electrician and gardener.
The student who is responsible for organization in their pod will have this duty.
This means all papers and resources that need to be kept will be in the hands of the organizer at each pod.
The student who was assigned the role of janitor will clean up at the end of the day. However, during each period, students will be required to clean up any mess that they created.
At the end of the day (last period), the students who have classroom jobs will be able to complete these jobs.

Rationale

In order to create a classroom that moves fluidly and provides the best space for students to learn, it is important that our classroom is well taken care of. During transition periods, it is important that students are able to move from class to class quickly and will be able to get all the resources they need for class. Having daily standards and a routine that students are expected to do each day will allow for them to have a consistency. The organization in the classroom will help keep the learning environment tidy. Resources will be placed where they are needed, so that students are able to access them. I also discussed the classroom jobs. This is an important leadership role that students can take. These jobs can be completed in the morning or in the afternoon. Having a daily routine will benefit the students and create structure in our classroom. This will allow students to preform at their best level.
