This section cover cultural responsiveness and how both Ms. Shanafelt and the students in her class will respect each other. This section will also explain cultural responsiveness in readings as well as in the classroom.

Cultural Responsiveness

Reflection

This section covers how my classroom will be culturally responsive. It's important that this is practiced by both students and adults within the classroom. I created two categories. I think a simple way to be culturally responsive in a classroom is through the literature and the questions. This is an easy way for students to learn about others lives and further the understanding of their own as well. I also included the section about how our classroom standards will represent those of a culturally responsive classroom. It's extremely important that kindness and respect are at the forefront of our classroom standards. I included information about the teacher roles and student roles when it comes to creating a culturally responsive classroom. I also wanted to make it known that often there will be information shared in class that may be uncomfortable to talk about. I wanted students to understand that they are able to determine what they want to share and what information they would like to comment on. However, the one guideline is that students honor others opinions and support them.
