This section covers how students will be graded in this class section. Here I will cover the rationale for grading and what students should expect form this course.

  • Feedback is extremely important to me as a teacher. I will strive to provide ample feedback on all of your assignments promptly to their submission

  • I will grade based on effort, knowledge, and explanation

  • I will focus on others part of questions rather than a simple wrong or right answer

  • This will benefit you as a student because I will be able to analyze your work and provide feedback individually on the methods and practices you are using to complete the questions

  • All assignments will be open for resubmission. If you are unhappy with the grade or the work you originally submitted... you will have the option to resubmit for a better grade

  • Homework will be given in this class as further practice, however, these homework assignments will not be taken for a grade.

  • Homework is seen as extra practice. With this in mind, in order to perform well on assessments it would be in your best interest to complete all of the homework assignments

  • If you wish to resubmit any assessment, you must first have turned in all of your homework assignments to ensure that you have practiced the material

  • Extra practice and study sessions will be available in order to better your grade

  • Per the school guidelines, we will use a normal grading scale, however in order to create a system of grading that will work effectively in our class - I will use a 4 point grading scale. (1-little to no understanding of the material, 2-understands some material, but is unable to explain abstractly, 3-understands most of the material and can explain information, 4-understands all the information and could teach the material to another student)

Reflection

This grading scale promotes communication in the classroom because students are able to understand the standards. They also are able to critique their assignments if they choose. This allows for student choice. The grading scale is also reflective of our class and the things that are connected to our class. Lastly, feedback is one of my biggest goals, so students will always be able to be in communication with me through feedback on their assignments. This can create room for questioning and guidance in the classroom.
