M - Middle school movement having two wings. The mainstream is filled with people who love adolescents, but are focused on using curriculum and activities to see what will pull kids in. The progressive wing is trying to have the movement address larger social issues and legal things.
I - I wonder what kind of backlash these individuals got for wanting to start the Middle School Movement.
D - Democratic Education. How was this seen as an effective method of education? When the progressive movement came about? Did individuals push for the democratic movement?
D - Dedication from the teachers was seen throughout all of this change. This is exciting that even though this was a new understanding, teachers were still dedicated to helping their students.
L - Learning from John Lounsbury must have been fascinating! I wonder how other schools, teachers, faculty, and adults first reacted to his new ideas.
E - Economic factor. I did not realize that the expense of school was why so many students were failing and loosing out on their learning.


Kayla, very nice blog post in regards of the history of middle level education. The mainstream wing seems to be a bit more common versus the progressive wing. The mainstream wing is only focused on the students and how educators can "reel them in" as the progressive wing wants to educate students on real life issues that are happening in today's society. Which wing do you want to use inside of your classroom? The dedication that educators gave throughout the decades is massively surprising, in my opinion. With so much change going on, you would think that many would stop putting the effort in due to not knowing how this new educational system will function. The education field is always…
