Reflection
This classroom is set up to accommodate 24 students currently. However, if there is a year that the class size is bigger, we have extra tables in the storage room to accommodate. There are six tables of 4. Students will be able to choose their seats at the beginning of the year. This allows for student choice which is extremely important in my class. If students continue to be respectful of the classroom rules, they will be able to continue to choose where they would like to sit. Students will be required to switch seats and table mates every unit, so that students learn to collaborate with all their peers. If students aren't getting along or aren't working well together at any point during the year, seating changes will be made.

Square tables: Students will have an assigned seat (that they choose) that they will sit in during most of the class time. There are four students per table. This allows for students to collaborate with their peers. The norm in our math classroom is group work and collaboration. Many assignments will be created to work on with a group or partner. These tables are also able to accommodate more students as well, with room for one more chair on each side, in case bigger groups are needed. The tables are also height adjusted, that way if any student requires a wheelchair, they will be able to utilize the desks as well.

Standing Desks: These desks were designed for group work as well. If there were any moments where students needed to conduct an expierment they could go to these tables. This is also a space for students to work privately if they are not working well at their group table. This standing desk also allows for students to get out of their seats and stand. This is extremely important at this age because sitting for long periods of time is extremely uncomfortable for the growing tailbone of middl schoolers. These desks can also be used by myself or the co-teacher in the room to privately session with students if needed. There is also a small whiteboard at these standing desks, so students can express their ideas and work through problems.

Cozy Corner/Group Collaboration Corner: This is a cozy corner for any students that need to reset and recover. There will be fidget toys, so that students are able to refocus or just calm down for awhile if need be. This will also be an area where groups can collaborate. There is a small standing whiteboard in this corner as well. Ideally, this space would be used for presentation practice, number talks, or problem solving.

Resources: The resources on the right side wall are where students will submit work and also find the manipulative that we will use in class.

Other: All of the chairs in the classroom are rolling chairs with wheel locks. This makes it easy for students to move around. There are also different accommodations to specific chairs to help students focus. For example, some chairs have bouncy bands, which allow students to bounce their legs against the bands if fidgeting helps them focus. Other chairs have different textures on the sides to help students who struggle with tactile things. Any other accommodations can be created as students need arises.

Safety: This structure of seating arrangement allows for clear access to the door in case of emergency. There is also very few obstructions on the ground which helps keep students safe.
